A neighborhood lawyer with thirty years behind him.
Experienced counsel, plain talk, and a lawyer you can actually reach.
I came to this work through my own family.
I was always very close to my grandparents. When my grandfather got older and became sick, he needed to go into a nursing home. I helped my grandmother through the whole process: planning to protect what she and my grandfather had built, and getting him the care he needed.
Going through that with them, I saw how overwhelming it is for a family, and how easily people can lose their savings and their say in what happens to them. I've always felt strongly that people deserve to be protected and treated with dignity, especially at the end of their lives. That's what led me to elder law and estate planning, and my practice grew naturally from there into estates, probate, and real estate.
I began my career as an associate attorney at Gunnigle, Johnson, P.C., a small firm in Port Jefferson, where I practiced for eight years. I then opened my own practice in Miller Place and served North Shore families there for more than a decade. For over fifteen years now, my office has been in East Moriches, where I live. Today I work with clients on both the North Shore and the South Shore, including many families I've known for years.
In more than 30 years, I've helped over a thousand families, and my practice has grown almost entirely by word of mouth: through past clients, their friends and relatives, and the nursing homes and hospitals that referred families to me.
Clients often tell me I don't seem like a lawyer. I think what they mean is that I'm easy to talk to. I take the time to understand your situation, I explain things in plain English, and I don't make things more complicated than they need to be.
I also do the work myself. When you call, you reach me. When your documents are prepared, I'm the one who prepared them. If you can't get to my office, I'll come to you, at home, in a nursing home, or in the hospital. Whether your estate is modest or substantial, and whether you're planning ahead or facing something that can't wait, I'll make sure it's done properly and with as little stress as possible.
